Thanks for all the input so far - and so fast. I definitely am not in the position to get hurt yet...so I'm not concerned about that. Honestly, I'm a scientist, so I just like learning about how things work/happen - interactions with people are no different than understanding a chemical reaction or a Pavlovian response. People on this forum seem pretty darn insightful, so I figured why not put myself out there, learn from some experts, and hopefully help myself at the same time - it's an intersting way to spend time on a snowy, rainy, gloomy afternoon..
Back at the office, Mongo glanced at her real man as he packed his bag to go go home. Sweat on his brow, popping his third Tums today to battle that ulcer, and looking like death warmed over and staying late again to make more moeny for her. Mongo just shook his head....dodged a bullet there..
I think dating culture just kind of sucks right now all around lol, for men and women..

How in God's name can you be "looking forward to a committed relationship" with someone that you haven't even met yet??.
people who work in fun places or in places where others are out to have fun often enjoy the times most of all (after several shifts on) when they have time off and can probably hit some other bar with their true mates or partners because they can fully relax, spend their hard earned cash and let the night go the way they want, not how others demand or hope it will go..
Then try to initiate conversation (bookstores are great for this) abut whatever she would be looking for, whatever section she's in. Ask her an opinion on something in that section..
